The Guy in the Glass
When you get what you want in your struggle for self,
And the world makes you King for a day,
Then go to the mirror and look at yourself,
And see what that guy has to say.
For it isn’t your Father, or Mother, or Wife,
Who judgement upon you must pass.
The feller whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the guy staring back from the glass.
He’s the feller to please, never mind all the rest,
For he’s with you clear up to the end,
And you’ve passed your most dangerous, difficult test
If the guy in the glass is your friend.
You may be like Jack Horner and “chisel” a plum,
And think you’re a wonderful guy,
But the man in the glass says you’re only a bum
If you can’t look him straight in the eye.
You can fool the whole world down the pathway of years,
And get pats on the back as you pass,
But your final reward will be heartaches and tears
If you’ve cheated the guy in the glass.

You My friend
You don’t always show it,
but I know that you care.
You My friend
If I’d ever need you, I know you’d be there.
You I’m glad you’re my friend.
Your smile makes me smile.
Your pain makes me hurt.
You My friend,
I want you to know:
If you need me – I’m there,
to make you happy, make you laugh.
You My friend
sometimes you make me mad,
but I can’t stay mad.
You My friend
sometimes I want to get away from you.
And sometimes there’s nothing I want more than:
to talk to you, to tell you about my day,
to hear about yours,
laugh with you, to tease you,
to share an inside joke, that no one else would get,
to argue with you, but know we’re just kidding..
You My friend
Do you remember the time when…?
Oh, there are so many times.
You My friend
Don’t ever lose the wonderful person you are.
Stay happy.  Stay healthy.
Stay you.
You My friend
I’ll never stop being your friend.
Don’t ever stop being mine.
You My friend
Just wanted to tell you:
I care.
when you are sad,
…I will get you drunk and help you plot revenge against
the sorry bastard who
made you sad.
When you are blue, …I’ll try to dislodge whatever is choking you.
When you smile,
…I’ll know you finally got laid.
When you are scared, …I will rag you about it every chance I get.
When you are worried,
I will tell you horrible stories about how much worse it could be
and to quit whining.
When you are confused,
…I will use little words to explain it to your dumb ass.
When you are sick,
…stay away from me
until you’re well again.
I don’t want whatever you have.
When you fall, …I will point and laugh at your clumsy ass.
This is my oath,
…I pledge ’til the end.
Why you may ask?
Because you’re my friend!
